The Directors

Frédéric Hainaut studied animation at the National School of Visual Arts of La Cambre in Brussels. He worked at the non-profit association Revers and joined the team of animators of Camera-etc from 2013 to 2021. Today, he teaches Animation Cinema at the Ecole Supérieure des Arts St-Luc in Liège. Frédéric Hainaut has directed several personal animated films: Around the ring (2002) – Pôle Sud (2006) – Un homme sans (2014) – Between up & down (2014) – Le Marcheur (2017) – Ma solitude (2018) – Des mondes lointains (2022).

Olivier Coufer is coordinator in charge of the Continuing Education Unit of the Center Franco Basaglia. Tireless cyclist, he rode his bike several times to cross various countries. His trips to the Congo upset him. In 2014 and 2017, he took Frédéric Hainaut there. They went to villages where Westerners have not visited for years, giving them the feeling of being privileged witnesses, entrusted with the mission of sharing their observations, their impressions, their encounters and the voice of the Congolese in the form of an animated film.
