A film by Mathieu Labaye
The Lookout
One moment, an eternity. From absolute nothingness emerges an explosion of light, followed by matter, and then the Earth. Life appears—first wild, then human. Time inexorably passes, carrying us toward a certain end. Alongside this Great History, another story unfolds, on a much smaller scale. A suspended moment, disconnected from everything else. Two teenagers have arranged to meet on a vacant lot...

L’affût / The Lookout

In his new personal project, Mathieu Labaye continues the exploration begun with Orgesticulanismus and Le Labyrinthe. L’affût also explores movement—specifically the movement of time—through the relationship between the infinitely large and the infinitely small, between the grand narrative of history and the stories of individuals.

Currently in development, L’affût was one of nine short film projects selected for the CEE Animation Forum 2024 in the Czech Republic.
